Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana (PMGY) :-

Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana was launched in the year 2000-2001 in all the States and Union Territories of India, in order to achieve the objective of sustainable human development in the village level. The PMGY was envisages the allocation of Additional Central Assistance (ACA) to the States and Union Territories for selected basic minimum services in order to focus on certain priority areas. Pradhan Mantri Gramodaya Yojana initially had five components viz primary health, primary education, rural shelter, rural drinking water and nutrition. Rural electrification was added as an additional component in 2001-2002. For 2002-2003 as well as 2003-2004, the allocation of Additional Central Assistance (ACA) for PMGY was Rs. 2800 crores. Both financial and physical monitoring of the programme is being carried out by the Planning Commission.
