Every year millions of people go by walk to pandharpur. In the way they keep on chanting name of God and singing Abhangas and bhajans. The Lord Vitthala of pandharpur awaits his devotees every year in AASHAADHI EKADASHI.

The saints of Maharashtra rejected the idea of renunciation and emphasised the importance of being a householder while continuing with their preaching. The idea of worship of Vishnu gained ground in Maharashtra. They strongly condemned caste and class differences which also became a main topic of their compositions.
