Following are the parts that are observed in a well stained temporary Mount of a leaf when observed under a high power microscope:

  • The epidermal cells are visible. These cells are tightly packed.
  • Many tiny spores are observed among the epidermal cells. These tiny spores are known as stomata.
  • Each pore is protected by a bean-shaped cell which contains a nucleus and chloroplast.
  • Inner boundary of 'guard cell' is thick whereas the outer boundary is found to be thin.
  • Guard cells regulates the process of opening and closing of stomata.
