These plants mainly grow in water. They include fungus, lichens and algae and occasionally bryophytes, bacteria and the Myxomycota of Plantae kingdom.

A few examples of Thallophytes are - Spirogyra (algae), Rhizopus (Fungi), Chara, Ulothrix, Cladophora, Ulva, Laminaria etc.
