Newton's second law of motion pertains to the behavior of objects for which all existing forces are not balanced. The second law states that the acceleration of an object is dependent upon two variables - the net force acting upon the object and the mass of the object.

Second law of motion states that the rate of change of momentum of an object is proportional to the applied unbalanced force in the direction of force

Initial and final momentum of the object will be p1=mu and p2=mv

The change in the momentum =p2-p1

=mv-mu

=m(v-u)

The rate of change of momentum =m(v-u)/t

F=km(v-u)/t

F=kma

One unit of force is defined as the amount that produces an acceleration of1m/s2 in an object of 1kg mass

1unit of force =k(1kg)(1m/s2)

The value of k becomes 1

F=ma
