Given A.P.:-

3, - 5, - 7, - 9.

We know,

d (common difference) =  {a}_{k+1} - {a}_{k}

So, d = - 5 - (- 3) = - 5 + 3 = - 2.

Henceforth, next term will become: - 9 + (- 2) = - 11.

AP which terminates is known as a finite AP and which doesn't, is known as an infinite AP. Sum of any finite AP having (n) terms:-

 S_n = \dfrac{n}{2} [2a - (n - 1)d] .

Any GP (Geometric Progression) is in form of a, ak, ak², ak³,... , akⁿ of a, a/k, a/k³,..., a/kⁿ.
