▶▶Neil Bohr put forward the postulate that only a certain orbits, known as discrete orbits, are allowed inside an atom.

▶The electrons are distributed in it as per the energy available in them.

▶The capacity is calculated by the formula ---
2 {n}^{2}
where n stands for no. of orbit.

▶ For eg--; For the third orbit/shell = 2(3)²
=2*9
=18
So, the third orbit can accommodate only 18 electrons in it.
