In the real world, all the rank holders could be called as ravenclaws.They are considered as quick witted and knowledgable,that is why even the password to their common room is in the form of a riddle,which if solved will allow the person to enter. Even hermione is confirmed to be in ravenclaw if not had choosen gryffindor. They are usually considered smartest and the wittiest of the four houses. They can learn and remember everything by heart and score top marks,this is way in which they are at the top and superior to others.
