The word "democracy" means "rule by the people". The People establish democratic governments for the protection and promotion of their rights, interests, and welfare. Democracy requires the citizens to participate in the political community or nation's self-government. The overall concept of modern democracy has three principal parts: "democracy", "constitutionalism", and "liberalism". Each must exist in a political system for it to be a genuine democracy.
Democracy--Rule by the People through free and fair elections and other forms of participation.
Constitutionalism--The use of constitutions to limit government by law.
Liberalism:--Freedom, equality, and dignity of the individual.
Within our system of rules and laws, called The Rule of Law, are inalienable human rights. All citizens are equal under the law. No one is above the law. No one may be discriminated against on the basis of their race, religion, ethnic group, or gender.
Democracy engenders a culture of diversity and inclusion. We have many freedoms in the United States' democracy. Our Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights are expressions of our ideals as Americans.
For grassroots, or local elections and government, you may follow the same model of representation.
