the Amazon river basin is located in South America. it covers an area of 6.3 million square kilometres. it covers the countries of Bolivia Brazil Columbia Ecuador Guyana Peru Suriname and Venezuela the largest rainforest the Amazon is situated in the basin. a variety of tropical species of plants is is found in the Amazon basin. it is also a home to over 1400 species of mammals. about 1500 species of birds in habit in the Amazon river basin.
