The Amazon River basin is the area that drains into the Amazon, including all its tributaries. It covers almost half of South America and has great biodiversity. Its value is incalculable. The river basin covers eight South American countries across 2.7 million square miles.

"      The Amazon basin is the result of many tributaries flowing into the river. Some parts of Brazil and Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and Columbia the Amazon basin. There are thousands of unique flora and fauna in the Amazon River.

     As a result, many wonderful civilizations like Mayans and the Incas were home to the Amazon River. The Amazon basin is located in the equatorial region. Therefore, hot and cold climates are happen throughout the year.

The trees form a dense leafy roof that does not even allow sunlight to penetrate the forest as it rains throughout the year hence most of the plant parasites are present in this forest. The earth's surface is also damp and dark. There is plenty of vegetation here.

Most of the animals are crocodiles and snakes. In the river basin we can find rare species like Piranha and Giant Otter.

     People here cut a couple of trees and grow the land according to their need. Men’s are did a fishing and hunting, while the crops and fields are taken care of by women. The land near the Amazon River is very fertile, making it a good place for agriculture.

People live here in special houses called Maloca. These houses have steep sloping roofs and are large and in shape."
