Johann Wolfgang dobereiner gave a system of triads in which he said that the atomic mass of the middle element of the triad is the arithmetic mean of the other 2 elements .
there are 3 types of triads :-
1) lithium , sodium , potassium .
2) calcium ,strontium, barium .
3) chlorine , bromine ,iodine.

for example :- In the triad of lithium, sodium , potassium
lithium has mass - 7 , sodium has mass - 23 , potassium has mass - 39.

= 7+39 /2
= 46/2
= 23
