The phase delay and the phase jitter causes difficulty in nanosecond pulses. To achieve division without phase jitter, regularly spaced input pulses is applied to divider input. These pulses trigger the gating waveform generator. Also, the natural time period of the oscillator must be stable, otherwise will cause instability in relaxation dividers.
The frequency of sine wave is one cycle per second. To divide sine wave frequency, use band- pass filter. This will extract one harmonic of input signal. For example - let input be 1 kHz square wave, so using a 3 kHz band pass filter, only third harmonic is passed, and we receive 3 kHz sine wave.
