Answer:Jhoom farming is also referred to ‘Shifting cultivation’ or ‘Slash and burn farming’. This type of farming is performed by tribal people who move from one place to another. In this type of farming, a land is left as it is after growing crops on  it for some period of time ( such as five  years) to  regain its lost fertility. Some cultivators do not just leave the land as it is, they cut and then burn the trees and plants to make the soil regain its  fertility. The ashes that come from the trees would help in providing nutrients to soil. In India, this type of farming is performed in hilly terrain like North-East and Mizoram.
