Around 56 units are manufacturing beer under license from the Government of India.The two segments in the liquor segment, country liquor and Indian Made Foreign Liquor, both cater to different sections of society. Low-income groups consume in rural areas and the former, while the middle and high income groups consume the latter.

There are more than 35 wineries in Maharashtra, and around 1,500 acres of grapes are under cultivation for wine production in the state.
