A family usually consists of parents and children. In the Indian context, it also included grandparents.
The benefits of each family member having a say when it comes to decision making include:
1. Many points of view are shared. 2. The chances of missing a point are reduced.
3. Each individual feels involved, irrespective of their age.
Having too many people involved in the process has its disadvantages:
1. It takes a lot of time to listen to everyone's ideas and then reach a decision.
2. Unimportant details may move attention away from the main issues.
3. Not every member might have the required basic knowledge of the issue being discussed.
