One prudential reason is that it is the good way to ensure the stability of the government.

One moral reason is that it is the very spirit of democracy. A democratic government rule involves sharing power with those affected by its exercise and who have to live with its effect.

Example : horizontal and vertical power sharing in india. In horizontal power sharing, there are checks and balances.

(i) Prudential reason: The main and most important prudential reason for power sharing is that it reduces the possibility of conflicts between various social groups. As social conflicts often lead to violence and political instability therefore sharing of power is a good way to ensure the stability of political order.

(ii) Moral reason: As sharing of power is essence for a democratic country and the main moral reason for sharing of power is that upholds the spirit of democracy.
