The Wood's Despatch was an important policy by the East India Company for the Western education in India.
It suggested(sentence of the Wood Despatch);
(i) An educational department should be set up in every province of India.
(ii) English should be the medium of education in the schools.
(iii) Universities to be set-up in the big cities of India like Bombay, Calcutta and Madras.
(iv) Government schools to be set up in the districts of India.
(v) Education of women should be supported by the government of India.
Sir Charles Wood was the person who made the suggestions to Lord Dalhousie, the then Governor General of India.

The Wood’s despatch of 1854 suggested that the medium of education for primary schools, high schools and colleges should be vernacular languages, Anglo vernacular language and English medium respectively.
