I) Let, x be the oxidation number of Cr in [Cr(NH3)6]
Now,
x+6×(0)+3×(−1)=0
x−3=0 ⇒x=+3.
Oxidation number of Cr is =+3
ii) Let x be the oxidation state of Co in [Co(CN)6].
Since the overall charge on the complex is −3, the sum of oxidation states of all elements in it should be equal to −3.
Therefore, x+6(−1)=−3
or, x=+3.
