i) People of Coorg

Coorg, the smallest district is situated between Mysore and Mangalore.is located in Karnataka.It is situated in hills and inhabited by martial men and women.Coorg is also known as Kodagu.There are evergreen forests ,spices and coffee plantations and colonial bungalow

ii) Their origin and history

The coorgis are possibly of Greek or arabic descent.As one story goes a part of Alexanders army moved south along the coast and settled their.As return became impracticle they married the local people and thus a new race was born who are the coorgi people of today.

The coorgis wear a long black coat with an embroidered waist belt called Kuppia.It resembles the Kuffia worn by the Arabs and the curds.These supports the theory of Arab origin of the coorgs.
