Answer:
Water is one of the greatest gifts of God to mankind. It is essential for the very existence of life on the globe. Therefore water can also be called life. More than 70 % of the Earth is covered with water. However, only 1.2 per cent can be used for drinking because the rest is locked up in glaciers, ice caps or buried deep in the ground. As a renewable resource, its uses are listless. Apart from drinking, we use it for many domestic purposes such as drinking, bathing, cooking etc. It is also used for generating hydroelectricity, irrigation and for processing raw materials in industries. Water is the essence of life on our planet and yet it is being misused. The lack of awareness among people and the negligence of authorities are the main reasons behind the wastage of water. Industrialization is another activity that renders water useless by emitting industrial waste in water bodies. Population growth also has a major role to play in water depletion. More population means more demand and hence more wastages. As per the reports of the World Health Organization, around 844 million people do not have access to clean drinking water. Hence, it is very much necessary that water resources be saved and conserved for ourselves and for future generations.
