What is a part of speech ?

=> Parts of speech helps us to analyze sentences and understand them. Its also helps us to construct good sentences.

=> Job or function :- replaces a noun

=> Job or function :- describes a noun

=> Job or function :- describes a verb or adjective

There are 8 parts of speech, namely they are as follows :---

★ What is Noun ?

Noun is a name of a person, place, animal or things. There are four types of noun, they are as follows :

• Proper Noun : This noun refers to the name of a specific person, place, animal or things. The example of Proper noun are :-- Lalitya, Riya, Swayamdeep, etc,.

• Common Noun : This noun refers to the name of a common person, place, animal or things. ,The example of common noun are :-- He, she , it, etc,.•

• Collective Noun : This noun refers to the name of a collection / gathering of a people, animal, things at one place only. The example of collective noun are :-- Bevy of girls, Hive of Bees, etc..

• Abstract Noun : This noun refers to the feeling of a person. The example of abstract noun are :-- Hurrahhh ! we won the match , yes ! I am going to score best marks this time, etc,.

• Material Noun : This noun refers to the substances from which things are made i.e. jewellery.. The example of material noun are :-- Gold, Copper , diamond , etc,..

★ What is pronoun ?

Pronoun is used before the nouns, i.e. the name of a person, place, etc. He, she, it, etc,.

★ What is verb ?

Verb refers to the "work done'. The examples of verb are :-- He is Writing a letter, She is Playing, etc,.

★ What is adverb ?

Adverb is used to indicate Verb / an work done by opponent. How, where , etc,.

★ What is Adjective ?

The word which is used to indicate nouns and pronouns.

In simple language we can tell that 'it used to describe the classification / criteria of an object'. Pink bag.

Now, here it is showing that the bag is of pink colour, and your pink is the adjective for the word bag.

★ What is preposition ?

This is a part of speech which is used before the noun. I.e. Cat is sitting on the table.Here the word On is the preposition for this given sentence

★ What is conjunction ?

This is a part of speech which is used to join two sentence and converting those to sentence into one sentence only. In simply words we can tell that these are known as helping verb . Riya and Neha are best friend.Here the word and is used to to join two sentence into one word only, so this is known as helping verb and hence it is an conjunction.

★ What is Interjection ?

This is a part of speech which is used to show the strong feelings / dedications of a person. The sign used for this is (!) exclamatory sign.
