Have you ever laid awake with ideas rolling around, wishing you could write them down.  First of all, most of us just think "I'll remember this in the morning"...and don't.  That's because we'd have to get up, go turn on a light, find a pen and paper, write the idea down, turn off the light, and go back to bed.  Problem is, when we turn off the light, our night vision is shot.  So yes, we make it back to bed, either by bump into the door frame, bed post, or dog on the floor while trying not to curse and/or wake up our significant other, or we take tiny steps feeling with our toes trying to be as careful and quiet as possible.  What a hassle just to get that idea written down.

There are plenty of lighted pens on the market, that use white light, which has the same effect on night vision as turning on the light.  Red, green and blue light does not affect the night vision in the same way, or even as close.  Red is the best color for retaining night vision, but blue and green work well also.

So for that idea in the middle of the night (of course keep a pad and this pen on your bedside table), pilots flying at night, or anyone else that needs a pen to write in the dark, this is for you.

This pen lights up a small surrounding area, not just the area under the pen, so it can be used for a variety of things including small area illumination (trying to find that usb port on the back of your computer?) as well as a night time writing tool.  I think it'd be pretty cool looking at a concert, though I've not tried that one.  Drop something on the floor in the dark?  Use this instead of your phone flashlight.
