The empire building in New York is truck by lightning a 100 times on an average every year. Once it was struck 15 times in 15 minutes. So all tall buildings should be provided by lightning arresters. During thunderstorm activity one should not take shelter under very tall trees. Last year one old tree though wet was completely burnt by a lightning in TN. Many in open areas of cultivable lands are struck by lightning every year. In general a concrete building is safe to take shelter during thunderstorm activity. In tall buildings where no lightning arrester is provided better to avoid plumbing lines and wires meant for drying clothes in open terrace.
