= The Principle on which electric motor and commutator works is-
Electric motor- it work on the principle of magnetic effect of electric current. when a current carrying conductor is placed perpendicular to the magnetic field it experience a force.

= commutator- a split ring device in motor is called commutator. the role of split ring or commutor is that it reverse the direction of current flowing through the motor coil after every half rotation of coil. and the principle is same as of electric motor.

The principle is based on the magnetic effect of current. When a current carrying conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it experiences force. Similarly, if a current rectangular coil is placed in a uniform magnetic field, then according to Fleming's Left Hand Rule,  its two arms experience parallel, equal and opposite forces having diffrent line of action.The action of cobining these two forces make the coil to rotate.
