electric generator works on the principle of electromagnetic induction this principle is also used to produce high magnitude current in houses and industries .

AC electric generator produce potential which reverses after every 180 rotation of the coil working of an AC generator when the armature coil ABCD rotates in the magnetic field with the help of some external mechanical works in clockwise direction armeabi moves up and CD moves down due to change in the magnetic flux induced current shuts up in the coil stand according to Fleming's right hand rule the current flows in the direction ABCD after half rotation CD starts moving up and a beam moves down hands net induced current in the direction DC BA third after every half rotation the polarity of the induced EMF there by induced current across the load resistance change therefore in the external circuit we get alternating current.
