Synthetic fibres like PVC, Acrylic, Teflon and their properties as well as there uses have been given below.
1. PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)
Properties :
a. It's obtained by the polymerisation of vinyl chloride.
b. It's tougher than polythene.
Uses:
a. For manufacturing of rain coat.
b. For making shoes and pipes.
2. Acrylic (or perspex)
Properties:
a. Highly transparent plastic resembling glass.
b. It's soft and can be scratched.
Uses :
a. For making paints.
b. For making lenses, aircraft window screw.
3. Teflon:
Properties:
a. It's quite inert .Almost all chemical have no effect on it.
b. It has very high melting point.
Uses:
a. For making cookware and tapes.
b. In chemical industry as corrosion proof coating.
