1) Must be a citizen of India.

2) Must not be less than 25 years of age.

3) Must be a voter for any parliamentary constituency in India.

4) Candidate of a recognized political partyneeds one proposer from his constituency for his nomination.

5) An independent candidate needs ten proposers.

6) Candidates are required to make a security deposit of ₹10,000 (US$140).
