Answer:
When an acid reacts with a metal it produces a metal salt accompanied with release of Hydrogen gas
- Metal + Acid → Salt + Hydrogen
Example - Mg + 2HCl → MgCl2 + H2
When an acid react with metal carbonates and metal hydrogen carbonate it produces salt, water and carbon dioxide.
- Metal Carbonate + Acid → Salt + Water + Carbon dioxide
Example - Na2CO3 + 2HCL → 2NaCl + H2O + CO2
- Metal Hydrogen Carbonate + Acid → Salt + Water + Carbon dioxide
Example - HCl + NaHCO3 → NaCl + H2O + CO2
*Metal Hydrogen Carbonate is also known as Metal Bicarbonate.
