WRITE REASONS FOR THE FOLLOWING:

1)LITHIUM AND SODIUM ARE CONSIDERED AS ACTIVE METALS.

2)FLOURINE IS MORE REACTIVE THAN CHLORINE

1) li and na both have just one valence electron which is very easy to loose . so they are considered active metals. their effective nuclear charge is less and so valence electrons arent pulled closely together.they can easily lose electrons.

2) fluorine is smaller in size than chlorine as it has less number of shells so effective nuclear charge is more and it can easily lose electrons

1 they are considered as active metal because they react vigorously with water and release heave amount of energy
2 flourine is more reactive than chlorine because outer electron in chlorine atom are further from the nucleus as compared to flourine atom
