a. Endangered animals in India
Answers
Answer:
There are so many beautiful and amazing animals all over the world! Unfortunately, some animals are endangered, or in danger of extinction. When an animal is labeled as 'endangered,' it means that there are so few of them left on Earth that they might soon be extinct, or gone forever.
There are many reasons for a species, or type, of animal becoming endangered or extinct. Creatures may be killed for their fur, meat, or other body parts, like elephants for their ivory tusks. Killing an animal for a part of its body is called poaching. The destruction of an animal's habitat may also lead to endangerment. Still other reasons include pollution, loss of prey, hunting, and more.
In the country of India, there are many beautiful animals. Some of them are endangered or even critically endangered, which means they are even closer to disappearing. Let's take a look at a few.
Bengal Tiger
The Bengal tiger is actually the national animal of India, like the bald eagle and American bison are the national animals of the United States. It's a beautiful, big cat that has yellow or light orange fur with dark brown or black stripes. Bengal tigers are endangered because of poaching and human-tiger conflict. Human-tiger conflicts are often because people do not want the tiger to come on their land and hurt their farm animals.
Red Panda & Gharial
The red panda looks like a mix of a cat and bear that lives in forests. Its existence is threatened by poaching and because its home of trees is being cut down. When trees are cut down, the red panda loses its habitat as well as the food it usually feeds on, like bamboo, fruits, and small animals. Many baby red pandas are not able to survive to adulthood, so the population of pandas is becoming smaller every year.
