The Propagation of sound. Soundis a sequence of waves of pressure which propagatesthrough compressible media such as air or water. (Sound canpropagate through solids as well, but there are additional modes ofpropagation). During theirpropagation, waves can be reflected, refracted, or attentuated by the medium.

Propagation. Of Sound

Sound propagates from one medium to another. The waves which makes us hear are called Sound Waves.
Sound travels fastest in solid, slower in liquids and slowest in gases. These waves are longitudinal waves as sound waves travels parallel to the medium.
These waves are both transverse (move perpendicular to the medium) and longitudinal (move parallel to the medium) .But are best described as longitudinal waves.
Eg. sound can be made by musical instruments or can be produced by one.
