Answer:

a) Biomagnification: The process by which a compound (such as a pollutant or pesticide) increases its concentration in the tissues of organisms as it travels up the food chain - Bronwyn Garrity, Vogue, May 2009

Water-soluble pollutants usually do not get biomagnified because the pollutants solubles in the water and thus does not increase the concentration of the compound such as the pollutant and pesticides in the food chain through water when it solubles.

b) The importance of biodiversity of the earth are listed below -

         1. The more number of plants increases means the stability of life.

         2. If the number of species increases the natural stability will retain.

         3. The ecosystem will retain and recover from various disaster easily if everything in the ecosystem will remain healthy.

c) The major issues on energy utilization in urban planning are -

         1. The increasing population in urban places makes demand of energy higher off the existing limit.

         2. The up-gradation of energy lines is not that much rapid than the increasing population.

         3. The plantation of renewable energies is not so easy.

d) Three problems associated with resettlement & rehabilitation -

         1. The support from the new people is very little after resettlement.

         2. Someone could find the lack of facilities in the new place.

         3. Sometimes the expense could increase in case of resettlement and rehabilitation.

e) EIA stands for Environmental impact assessment. It means the assessment of of a  policy, plan, program, or actual projects of the environmental consequences prior to the decision to move forward with the proposed action.

The necessity of involving the public in EIA is that the public can help in execution of EIA as a helping hand and thus the plans could execute fast and people can maintain the policies.

a. Because the pollutants which are present in water are soluble. Therefore, it cannot increase the concentration of compound like pesticides in a food chain through water when it soluble.

b. i. Plant more trees ii. Protect the wildlife animals. iii. Protect forest and natural resources.

c. First major issue is the populations that are increasing day by day and it demands more energy. Due to high number of people, amount of energy resources are exhausting.

d. i. After resettlement, there are not enough supports from the new people. ii. People could find lack of resources and facilities at new places. iii. Expenses could be increase.

e. It means assessment of a plan, policy or project that is related to environment. It is necessary to involve people so that plans could be executed fast.
