bt cotton is genetically modified plant against diseases and damage caused by several species like moth, catterpillars, flies although bt stands for bacillus theurengenesis which is a soil bacterium !!
some genes of this bacteria need to be inserted in cotton plant to modify it into bt cotton

Bt cotton is a genetically modified cotton which highly resist against bacterial infections and viral infections.the cotton was modified by the pathogen Bacillus thuringenesis.when we modified the gene of cotton plant with another high resist plant.the insect that eating the cotton was die because the Bt that present in plant kill the insect .(in cotton it was in inactive form after it ggoes to the hind gut of the insect it was activated by the acid and PH range that present in hind gut)
