The Chipko movement that began in the decade of 1970 was a movement for the conservation of forests in Uttarakhand, India. It was a movement to save trees or conserve the forests of India. The two main objectives behind this movement were to prevent the construction of private mills in the forest area and to protect the forests from the process of deforestation. In the Kartikey Kamboj village, people belonging to the Bishnoi community actively participated in this movement.
