Gandhiji always thought of innovative methods to oppose the government. This time, he decided to break the salt law point the government had a Monopoly on the manufacture and sale of salt. So this was an issue with trust the life of every Indian point

on 12 March 1930, Gandhiji along with 78 followers left the Sabarmati Ashram at Ahmedabad and travelled towards Dandi, a village on the West Coast of India.after working for 25 days and covering a distance of 385 km, the group reached Dandi.hair, Gandhiji broke the law by making salad. in March 1919, the government passed the Rowlatt Act. Under it, the government could arrest anyone without a warrant and imprison him without trial. This further aroused public anger and let to mass demonstration. A country wide protest was organised on 6 April 1919, which was observed as the National humiliation Day.

in November 1927, the government appointed A Commission to look into the working of the Government of India Act of 1919 and suggest for the administrative reforms. This Commission was called the semen Commission after its Chairman, sir John Simon.

the Indians were extremely disappointed with the commission. This was because -:

✔ all the members of the Commissioner Englishman, and

✔ the government refused to accept the demand of self government.

the Congress decided to boy cut the commission. When it arrived in India on 4th February 1928, it was greeted by and all India Hotel. Slogans of simon go back erased all over the country and their work public demonstration against it.
