HDI is a composite statistics of life expectancy, education and per capita income indicators which are used to rank countries in four tires of Human Development .

Human Development Index is reported every year by the UNITED NATIONS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM(UNDP). It was formulated in 1990 by Pakistani Economist  Mahbub ul Haq. HDI is measured on 3 parameters:-

1) Standard of living

2) Health measured by the life expectancy at birth.

3) Mean years of education among the adult population and the expected years of schooling for children.

In 2018 India got 130th rank among 189 Countries, whereas it's neighbors Pakistan and Bangladesh were ranked 136th and 150th respectively. Value of India's HDI is above the average for the region i.e greater than 0.638.  Srilanka and Maldives were ahead of India as they are ranked 77th and 101th respectively.
