HEART ♥

Our heart is a pumping organ.It is one of the organ of circulatory system . Heart supplies oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and removing carbon dioxide and other wastes. It's size is about our own's fist. Heart is present almost in the centre of thoracic cage. It is present behind the ribs betn two lungs & slightly inclined on left side. It's weight is about 360 gm. It is made up of involuntary cardiac muscles. They contract and relax with a definite rhythm.

• The heart blood and the blood vessels together form the Human Circulatory System.

• The human heart is primarily a mechanical pump.

• From the moment the heart develops till the death of an individual, the heart continuously contracts and relaxes.

• The powerful contraction of the heart pumps blood into the blood vessels which travels to the lungs and other body parts.

⛤ Structure of heart :-

• The human heart is a hollow muscular bag like organ made up of powerful muscles.

• The human heart is shaped like an upside down pear. The heart is approximately the size of an closed fist of an individual.

• It is located in the chest region between the lungs.

• The tapered end of the heart is known as the apex is pointed forwards and towards the left.

• The heart is divided into left and right parts by thick vertical muscular wall known as Septum.

• The left and right parts of the heart of other divided into upper and lower Chambers.

• Thus, the heart is divided into four Chambers namely :

• The Right Atrium
• The Right Ventricle
• The Left Atrium
• The Left Atrium

• The openings of the Atria into the Ventricles are guarded by the valves which prevent backflow of the blood into Atria.

• The major Arteries originating from the Ventricles also have valves at the opening to prevent backflow of blood into the ventricles.
