Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) located roughly between 5 degree S and 5 degree N latitude. This belt of calms lies between the two trade winds. There being no strong pressure gradient, the wind is light and variable. Mostly there are vertical movements in the atmosphere in this zone. Since this zone is the meeting place of two trade winds, so it is called as Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone.
