liverworts are group of plants belonging to phylum bryophytes.the plant body of liverworts is thalloid. asexual reproduction takes place by Gemma cups .during sexual reproduction, the result is a sporophyte this germinate to form gametophyte

common features of bryophytes:

1. these include mosses and liverworts
2. they r called amphibians of plant kingdom coz they need water for sexual reproduction
3. plant body is thallus but more complex than algae
4. the main plant body is haploid
5. the Male sex organ is called antheridia and female sex organ is archaegonia.
6. result after fusion is a sporophyte
7. they r of great economic importance ex. sphagnum species provide a fuel called peat.
8. ex : marchantia, funaria, sphagnum
