There was an ancient powerful kingdom of India that ruled India for about 137 years. The Maurya dynasty was founded by Chandragupta Maurya. Chandragupta Maurya was the founder and first emperor of the Maurya Empire. Chandragupta Maurya established the Maurya Empire in 322 BC.

The second ruler of the Mauryan Empire was Bindusara, the son of Chandragupta Maurya, who ruled from 298 BCE to 272 BCE.

Bindusara was succeeded by his son Ashoka Maurya who ruled the Maurya Empire from 268 BCE to 232 BCE. Ashoka was the most successful ruler of the Maurya Empire. After Ashoka, Dasaratha Maurya, Samprati, Shalishuka, Devvarman, Shatdhanva, and Brihadratha were all Mauryan rulers. The Maurya dynasty lasted till 185 BC, after which it started to decline.
