Answer:

The President is the ‘Head of the State’ in India.

Explanation:

The nominal ‘head of the state’ is the President of India who has the control on all the executive powers. All the executive activities and tasks are carried out in his name. The activities and tasks are implemented by the Prime Minister and his union Council of Ministers. Prime Minister is the ‘head of the government’ and has a ‘major role’ in running the country.

The ‘President’ has the powers which are only in name but the implementation happens by the ‘Prime Minister’. President is elected for 5 years term through a process of Electoral College. These consist of members who are the elected ‘Member of Parliament’ and the ‘legislative assemblies’ of the different States.
