A scale for measuring hydrogen ion concentration in a solution is called pH scale. pH value of a solution is simply a number which indicates the acidic or basic nature of a solution. The range of pH value is from 0 to 14.

 pH value is a number from 1 to 14, with 7 as the middle (neutral) point. Values below 7 indicate acidity which increases as the number decreases, 1 being the most acidic.
