Education: The Rajkumar College, Rajkot under the guidance of Principal McNoton. (1885-1889),
During 1889 to 1893 he studied English, World history and polity
He was the greatest king of that time. Maharaja Of Kolhapur. His personality was very attractive he had solid body yet he was simple and ground to earth king.
Also he was so close to his fellow peoples. He was influenced by the two grate freedom fighters mahatma jotiba fule and Agarkar .
He loved wrestling. He encouraged wrestling in Kolhapur and that is why you see now a day most popular wrestlers are from Kolhapur. People come to Kolhapur to learn wrestling. This is all because chatrapati shahu maharaj.
Then he was adopted by Smt. Anandibaisaheb(wife of king of Kolhapur shri shivaji 4th ).
At the age of 20 ( April 2 nd 1894) he became the king of a Kolhapur.
After that he ruled Kolhapur for rest of his life (28 years he was king of Kolhapur) .
He was not only king he was a social reformer.

- Rajashri Shahu was a well-known ruler of Kolhapur and he was also known as Shahu Maharaj and Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj.
- He belonged to the Bhosle dynasty of Maratha's and he did good social welfare works.
