There are seven periods and eighteen groups .

. The first two groups are of Alkali metals .

. The next group is of alkaline earth metals

Then comes the transition series .

The seventeenth group is Halogens

The last , eighteenth group is of noble gases .

A separate column has been provided to Actinoides, lanthanoides which are the radioactive elements .
