Answer:

The solar system consists of the sun , the eight planets and their satellites (moons) , comets , meteorites meteors , asteroids.

Asteroids

Asteroids are celestial bodies made of rocks or metals revolving around the sun in between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. They can only be seen through a powerful telescope. It is believed that there are a large number of asteroids out of which about 4,000 have been discovered so far. Asteroids are of varying size. The largest asteroid Ceres is actually a dwarf planet with a diameter of approximately 975km .

Comets

Comets are celestial bodies that revolve around the sun in very large orbits. They are lumps of rocks, dust and ice.

Comets appear like a ball of fire with a long tail. The tail always points away from the sun. The length of the tail of a comet increases while coming towards the sun . This happens because the the heat of the sun melts some of the ice turning it into gas. Some dust also comes out forming a cloud of gas and dust around the comet .

Meteoroids

Meteoroids are solid objects of a size considerably smaller than comets and asteroids moving in the solar system. In fact, they may be piece of shattered asteroids.

Meteoroids travel at a very high speed as they enter the earth's atmosphere. As a result , they burn due to friction and can be seen as a streak of light. This streak looks like a falling star and is called a meteor or shooting star. We can thus define a meteor as a visible streak of light that occurs when a meteoroid enters the earth's atmosphere.

Hello Mate!

Your Answer:

Asteroids

There is a large gap between the planets Mars and Jupiter. This gap is occupied by a large number of small objects that revolve around the Sun. These are called Asteroids. Asteroids can only be seen through large Telescopes.

Meteoroids

A meteoroid is usually a small object that occasionally enters the Earth's atmosphere. At that time it has a very high speed. The friction due to the atmosphere heats it up. It glows and evaporates quickly. That's why the bright steak last for a very short time.

Comets

Comets are also the memebers of our Solar System. They revolve around the sun in highly Elliptical orbits. However, their period of revolution around the Sun is very long. A comet appears generally as a bright head with a long tail. The length of the tail grows in size as it approaches the Sun.

Hope that helps!
