Answer:

Vasco Da Gama: He was sent to India to try to open up a trade route. When he arrived at Calicut, he put one of his stone pillars. He wanted to convert the people to Christianity and set up trade in spices. He failed to make a trade agreement at Calicut because the trade was controlled by Arab Merchants. Then,Vasco Da Gama took some gifts with him. he set off to Portugal after 3 months. Then he sailed to Calicut again and defeated the Arabs in a sea battle near Calicut. Again he sailed back to Portugal. In 1524, at the age of 64, he was given the title 'Viceroy of the East'. He sailed to India again but died of a fever after 2 months.

Christopher Columbus: He was the one who discovered the 'New World'. To the west of Europe was the great Atlantic Ocean and no one knew how wide it was or what was on the other side so he decided to sail across the ocean and land on the American continent.
