Thorny Forest is a dense, Scrub like vegetation characteristics of dry subtropical and warm temperate area with the seasonal rainfall averaging 250 to 500mm (9.8 to 19.7in).This vegetation is covers a large part of south- western North America and south-western Africa and smaller areas in Africa ,South America and Australia. In south America ,thorn forest is sometimes called Caatibga, and consists primarily of small thorny trees that shed their leaves seasonally .Trees typically do not exceed 10m (33 feets) in height,usually averaging between 7m and 8 m (23ft and 26ft)tall. Thorn forest gardes into savanna woodland as the rainfall increases and into deserts as the climate becomes drier.
