A medicine which stops the growthof disease causing microorganisms is called antibiotic.

These are the chemical compounds which produce chemicals which inhibit the growth of some other microbes.

Few properties are as follows :

1. They can be bacteria, fungi and moulds.

2. They can kill the helpful bacteria also.

For example, Penicillin, Gramicidine etc.
