central highlands :
The peninsular plateau is divided into two- the central highlands and the Deccan plateau. The part of the peninsular plateau lying to the north of the Narmada river is known as the Central highlands. The Vindhyan range is bounded by the central highlands on the south and the Aravalis on the northwest. The central highlands are wider in the west but narrower in the east. The further westward extension gradually merges with the sandy and rocky desert of Rajasthan. The flow of rivers draining this region, namely the Chambal, the Sind, the Betwa, and the Ken is from southwest to northeast, thus indicating a slope. The eastward extensions of this plateau are locally known as the Bundelkhand and the Baghelkhand.
deccan plateau :Deccan plateau is very old configuration of indian physiography.Deccan plateau is formed by cooling of long spread of lava.It is not only the source of various minerals but also support the agriculture especially cotton throgh black soil.Because of its geography it also enabled the distinct type of culture which is somewhat different than the north indian culture.
